The beginning... of the middle.

They say that every good story has an epic beginning. One where the hero has to overcome a huge childhood obstacle making him stronger than before. But sometimes, a hero isn't born into greatness- sometimes he is bred for it. Sometimes, he has a great childhood but as he becomes an adult, life takes him down a path he didn't expect. All that is left to do is walk that path with a smile, as the middle of a new hero's life is beginning.
I find myself on a similar path as our hero. Pumped and ready to go as my life flips around me. But my feet are firm. I know who I am. I have good breeding. Sure that path is a little dark and scary sometimes, but life is all about taking risks, right?! To some, life is about managing risk avoiding situations where injury and harm may be produced. And to that I say, "Fair Point." But if you are bred for greatness, bred to be more than you are now, bred to be a hero, the risks you take are logically based- carefully weighed and measured based on previous life experiences. These risks walk you further on the path to becoming all you can, giving you knowledge (a.k.a power) to overcome your next obstacle. Let's be real, sometimes taking a risk that seems scary turns out to be fun. And every hero knows how to have a good time.
So here I am, starting on my path to the middle of my life, taking risks, moving obstacles, having fun. But as I said before, this is only the beginning of the middle. What's ahead on the path? Wouldn't I like to know?! But that's half the fun! With my feet firm on this Rock I have built my life around, I happily walk this new path-alone and unsure, but not afraid.
South Dakota here I come.
